Overview

Capable of capturing a total of four tracks of very high resolution, the Tascam DR-40X comes in handy as portable and easy to use. Its use of use makes it a favorite by podcasts as well as music production. The DR-40X can either be powered two AA batteries, a USB bus power or an AC adapter, making it suitable for outdoor and indoor recording. It also comes with in built microphones and an external source can also be added. With both options, the selectable modes in the DR-40X such as peak reduction and limiting, and auto level are still available.

USB Microphone and Audio Interface Functionality

The Tascam DR-40x can be connected to a Mac/Windows computer or iOS device via USB for real-time bidirectional audio routing. For better functionality, the file transfers, the recorder can be used as a card reader when you connect it via USB.

Stereo Safety Track Recording

The DR-40X comes with a dual-recording mode which can capture a copy of your take from the onboard mics or external inputs at a lower level as a safety track in the event of a sudden sound such a screaming while filming.

The TASCAM records directly to SD cards(sold separately) and can use sizes upto 128gb especially when recording for long hours. With the card, you can record upto 192 hours at a 16-bit/44.1kHz.

Ideal for Handheld and Tripod-Mounted Use

Thanks to its compact size and lightweight, he Tascam DR-40X can be held or placed on a flat surface for interviews. You can also mount it on a mic stand or tripod since it has a 1/4"-20 threaded hole.

Nondestructive Overdubbing

The Tascam DR-40X allows you to layer a recording over an existing recording. By overdubbing, you can easily play an instrument over saved track.

Tone Generator for Synchronizing Files

Once the DR-40X is connected to the camera, have an adjustable auto-tone sent to your camera and the tone can be used to as a guide when synchronizing your videos while editing.

Uses AA batteries, USB or an AC Adapter

The Tascam DR-40X can be powered with three alkaline AA batteries giving you up to 18 hours recording time. In case of longer recording periods, you can power is via a USB cable to s computer or power bank or a Tascam power adapter(sold separately)
